Ashleigh Hazel - Lazer Pointer
Lazer Pointer is a song I wrote during Melbourne’s lockdowns. Initially I was exploring the use of a now discontinued drum sequencer called BreakTweaker by Izotope. The program allowed for complicated rhythms to be programmed in an intuitive, easily manipulable setting and resulted in the flickering percussion textures that you hear throughout the track.
Another little miracle happened in the process of writing this song. I accidentally pulled out power chord from the analogue delay pedal I was using to track the guitar part while recording, which, when reversed resulted in the first sound you hear in the song. This sound giving the song a sci-fi flavour inspired the lyrics and photo shoot that accompanied this song.
